Ruth Eileen Moody

Ruth Eileen Moody, age 73, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away on November 9, 2025, at The Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, who sang to her as she entered Heaven’s gates.

Ruth was born on March 19, 1952, in Redtown, Ohio, to Floyd Brooks and Katherine McFarland Brooks.

Ruth was the sweetest person—kind, loving, and always putting others before herself. She was deeply loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruth loved Jesus, gospel music, and singing, and she found great joy in hearing her children and grandchildren sing. Watching her family grow brought her immense happiness. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ruth was also known for her love of butterflies and pickles, which always brought smiles to those around her.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Rick) Iser of Lancaster and Carla (Howard) Dearth of Gold Hill, NC; her sons, Rickey Moody of Trimble and Matthew (Judith) Moody of Salisbury, NC; and her grandchildren, Travis Spangler, Trever Spangler, Talayna Spangler, Tallie Spangler, Caleb (Brooklyn) Dearth, Haley (Caleb) Johnson, Heidi Dearth, Kiah Moody, Kendrick Moody, Kiley Moody, Kyler Moody, Parker (Tara) Moody, Gracelyn Moody,and Madden Moody.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ember, Juniper, Hudson, Cade, Everlyn and (expecting Eleanor and Harper); her sisters, Donna (Steve) Heskett of Nelsonville, Libby Nelson of Nelsonville, and Cindy Moody of North Carolina; and her best friend of over 60 years, Nancy Kennedy of Glouster.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Gary Brooks and Ronnie Brooks; and her sister, Mary Shover.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio, with Rev. Jeff Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Glouster Cemetery, Glouster, Ohio.

Visiting hours will be observed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
