Matthias John Swart, age 17 Days, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away suddenly on January 12, 2026.

Matthias was born on December 25, 2025, in Athens, Ohio to Luke and Kaylee Swart. Matthias would always light up to dad making goofy noises at him and he inherited mom’s natural confusion with dad, raising his eyebrow at him from the very start. Matthias also loved cozy blankets.

Surviving are his parents, Kaylee and Luke Swart; grandparents, Kayla Lehman, Don Lehman, Larry Swart, and Karen Swart; great-grandparents, Henry McDaniel, Lisa McDaniel, Melissa Nestor, and Mike Nestor; great-great-grandmother, Rose Hunter; uncles, Donald Lehman, Brayden Lehman, Matthew Swart, and Joshua Swart; aunts, Lydia Swart, Angel Swart, Samantha Swart, and Melissa Plaugher; great uncles, Dallas Nestor, Yancey (Kimberly) Lehman Jr, Bill (Janice) McDaniel, Danny (Nancy) Cook, and David (Norma) Cook; great aunts, Cassandra Thurston, Jessica (Mark Bethel) Lehman, Tracy Levandofsky, Tish Perry, Peggy (John) Grant, Rosemary Swart, and Beki Cook; great-great- aunts, Rindy Patrella and Kim (Steve) Hargrave; cousin, Gabriel Rempel.

Matthias was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Yancey Lehman Sr; great-grandmother, Debbie Lehman; great-great-grandmother, Nola McDaniel; great-great-grandfather, John Hunter; and other family, Debra Lehman, James “Jim Bo” Nelson, Joe McDaniel, and Jediah Rempel.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio with Larry Swart officiating. Burial followed at Knollwood Cemetery in Logan, Ohio.

Calling hours were observed from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, January 16, 2026, and from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, prior to the service at the funeral home.
