Tricia Marie Wharton, born August 7, 1977, and passed away in Nelsonville, Ohio on January 11, 2026.
Tricia was the daughter of Walter (Steve) Mitchell and Janet Groce Mitchell, and is survived by her mother, Janet; daughters, Reagan Wharton of Port Charlotte Florida and Sara Wharton of Logan, Ohio; sisters, Christina (James) Perry, Stephanie (David) Barley, and Sara (Jarret) Smith, all residing in Nelsonville; mother-in-law, Myrtle Wharton.; sisters-in-law, Andrea Wharton (Mike) Mulgrew and Trissa Wharton (Jim) Sanderson; brothers-in-law, Steven (Carol) Wharton and Gregory (Debbie) Wharton; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Tricia was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Tricia was married to David Wharton for 23 years and remained her close supporter through every stage of her life.
The family extends deep gratitude to Tessie Brown for being a wonderful person and always being there for Tricia and the family.
Tricia graduated from Nelsonville York in 1995, where she enjoyed sports, music, clubs and academics and graduated as Salutatorian. Tricia attended Buckeye Girls State and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Tricia was a confirmed Methodist, attending as a child in Murray City and later in Logan where she enjoyed teaching The Financial Peace University classes.
Tricia loved her daughters above anything in life. They spent time exploring nature together, raising and rescuing animals, insects, reptiles and amphibians. You name it and Tricia knew how to take care of it. Tricia even had a special pet, Fiona the Tortoise.
Tricia loved art, crafts, quilting, crocheting and was rather accomplished in her paintings and drawings. Tricia loved to decorate. Each year, every holiday had a different and unique theme, she took a lot of pride in making sure things were perfectly displayed in her home. She loved to have flower gardens, and her favorite flower was the Tiger Lilly. Tricia was also talented with music, playing the Saxophone in school, and tinkering with the piano and violin. Tricia loved her clothing, shoe and jewelry collection and was always dressed for the occasion. Tricia was a self-proclaimed hippy, and her favorite band was the Grateful Dead. She passed her love of music and art to Sara and Reagan, teaching them to paint, draw, read and play music.
Tricia will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Per Tricia’s wishes, there will be a cremation held with scattering of her ashes following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Libby Foundation of Logan, Ohio or a local Humaine Society in honor of the love that Tricia had for animals.
Arrangements are by the Warren-Brown Funeral Home of Nelsonville, Ohio.
