Sammy Joe Hook, Jr., age 64, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away August 31, 2026, at his residence.

“Joe” was born August 2, 1962, in Athens, Ohio to Sammy Joe Hook, Sr. and Barbara Hook.

He enjoyed his time with his family; he liked working on vehicles; and going hunting and fishing.                              

“Joe” was survived by his sons, Daniel and Sammy Hook; sisters, Rena (Elmer Nott) Hook, Barbara (Berl) Lanning, Sandy (Dane Chesser) Chesser, and Carolyn Hook; granddaughters, Serenity Hook and Aniah-Lynn Hook; stepdaughters, Ashley Spencer and Amber Spencer; and several nieces and nephews, including Allen Lanning.

“Joe” was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Amy Hook; and sisters, Linda Nelson and Tina Pickett.

Calling hours will be observed from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. and the funeral service will be held at 1 P.M., on Monday September 7, 2026, at the Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, Ohio with Pastor Ron Fierce officiating. Burial will be in Hook Family Cemetery, Glouster, Ohio.
