Asa Pickett Jr., age 87, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away May 23, 2025, at Kimes Convalescent Center, Athens, Ohio.

Asa was born January 24, 1938, in Kimberly, Ohio to Asa Pickett Sr. and Thelma Tolliver Pickett. He served in the US Army; retired after 25 years from York Township; lifetime member of the Nelsonville VFW; an avid gardener; loved helping his friends; served on the Combined Color Guard for several years; marched in many area parades; rode a horse in the first Parade of the Hills.                        

Surviving is the mother of his children, Shirley Pillaro of Nelsonville; son, Robert (Bobbi Jo) Pickett of Athens; daughter, Kim Bail of Athens; grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Waltz of Brighton, CO, Chelsea (Kevin) Thompson of Las Vegas, Jared Davis of Belpre, Eugene (Melody) Hancock of Indianapolis, Haley (Edward) Carlin of Waynesville, Irene (Sean) Kidd of  New Marshfield, and Josh Pickett of Waynesville; and great-grandchildren, Isabella Thompson, Maci Thompson, Kayden Thompson, Finley Waltz, Lainey Waltz, Jaxson Carlin, Abigail Carlin, and Frankie Kidd.

Asa was preceded in death by his parents and all of his 9 siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm., Saturday May 31, 2025, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio. Burial will be in Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio, where Military Graveside services will be conducted by The Combined Color Guard.

Calling hours will be observed 12noon-1pm on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Asa’s memory to Kimes Hospice, 75 Kimes Lane Athens, Ohio 45701.
