Calvin L. Chalkey, age 58, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away October 8, 2025, at Grant Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio.

Calvin was born July 5, 1967, in Nelsonville, Ohio to William Deem and Stella Chalkey. He was a graduate of Trimble High School; a member of the Hocking County Fish and Game; was a hunter and fisherman; and enjoyed, watching football, Pittsburg Steelers fan, and wrestling, WWE fan.         

Surviving are wife, Nina Chalkey of Nelsonville, Ohio; mother, Stella Chalkey of Trimble, Ohio; children, Shawna (Joe) Jenne, Calvin (Alex) Chalkey, Clarissa Chalkey, Austin (Heather) Hook, and Dylan (Ally) Hook; grandchildren, Ellie (Brielle) Hook, Urban Holland, Rylie Estep, Rowan Hook, Emily Jenne, Joe (Rooster) Jenne, and Donnielle Jenne; brother-in-law, Matt (Kerri) Ritz; sister-in-law, Sonya Hook; brother, Joshua Willie ; sisters, Candie (Rob) Barrett and Michaela (Brent) Gloeckner; nieces and nephews, EJ (Troy) Barrett, Robert (Whitney) Barrett, Justin Hook, Sophia (J.D.) Bruce, Kyle Ritz, and Bryce (Anthony) Ritz; 6 great-nieces; 4 great-nephews; and 1 great-great-nephew (baby Wes).

Calvin was preceded in death by his father, William Deem; father-in-law, Richard Ritz; mother-in-law, Nancy Ritz; grandmother-in-law, Charlotte Kinnison; grandparents, Stella Chalkey (Bethel), Frank Chalkey, Maggie Deem, and Otto Deem; and sweet baby, Ruby Jane.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 8, 2025, with details being announced later.

Arrangements are by the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio.
