Carolyne Nihiser

E. Carolyne Nihiser, age 86, of Logan, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home on January 31, 2026.

Carolyne was born to the late Merlin and Oma Rheinscheld. Carolyne was a pillar of the Logan Community, known for her sharp mind, generous hands, and her unwavering commitment to others.

As a leader in local education, Carolyne had served on The Muskingum Valley School board. Her dedication also extended to her long-standing work with the America Cancer Society, The United Way, and Logan-Hocking Chamber of Commerce.

Despite her busy public life, Carolyne’s heart was always in her home. She was a well-known baker, famous for her pies and cookies. Her kitchen was the soul of her home, filled with the warmth of her baking and laughter of the many children she loved and cherished.

Carolyne was preceded in death by her husband, Larry T. Nihiser; siblings, Lewis “Bill” Rheinscheld, Merlin Rheinscheld, Ralph Klump, Jack Klump, and Mary Corns; daughter, Crystal Poling; grandson Ryan and granddaughter Jennifer Nihiser.

Carolyne survived by her children, Timothy W, Larry J, Danny J. (Tonya) Nihiser, Sharma J. (Rob) Tomak, Dina M. (Kent) Sparks, Duane (Lindsey) Strosnider.

Carolyne’s love also extends to her bonus kids whom she cherished as her own Leesa White, Tina (Randy) Skinner, and Kelly (Mike) Newton.

Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.

She will be remembered as mom, nana, grandma, granny, auntie, and the pie and cookie lady.

Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Carolyne’s Life between the hours of 6PM-8PM on Thursday February 5, 2026, and from 11AM-1PM on Friday February 6, 2026, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Friday February 6, 2026, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Rockbridge, Ohio.
