Donald E. Keels, age 73, of Athens, Ohio, passed away August 31, 2025 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.

Don was born May 19, 1952 in Hocking County, Ohio to Donald C. Keels and Virginia R. “Jenny” Summers Keels. He was a 1971 graduate of Logan High School; was a Corrections Officer at the Southeastern Ohio Correctional Facility in Nelsonville; served in the Ohio National Guard; loved NASCAR, fishing and hunting.                             

Surviving are his sister, Lora J. Keels of Logan; brothers-in-law, Randy (Denise) Davis of Reedsville, and John (Patti) Davis of Hockingport; nephew, Charlie (Cassie) Davis of Rockbridge; stepson, Chris Kelly; and friend, Roger Rutter.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy Keels.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Friday September 5, 2025, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio. Burial was in Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield, Ohio. Military graveside services were conducted by The Combined Color Guard.

Calling hours were observed 10-11am Friday at the funeral home.
