Janice E. Jones

Janice Elaine Jones, age 80, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, entered eternal rest on December 6, 2025, surrounded by her family in Logan, Ohio.

Born January 9, 1945, to Earl and Louise (Schmitter) Thompson in Lancaster, Ohio, Janice graduated from Logan High School in 1962 and married her husband of nearly 50 years, Patrick H. Jones, on March 15, 1964. The lifelong Hocking County resident was a bank teller and secretary who retired from Hocking County Soil and Water Conservation District, 50-year member of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, member of Mount Olive United Methodist Church in Gibisonville, and honorary member of Chief Logan FFA. She enjoyed reading, quilting, making candy and cookies for family and friends, and watching the Buckeyes.

Surviving are her daughters Crystal (Ken) Meier of Kenton and Wendy (Todd) Wilkison of Logan and son Kevin (Suzie) Jones of Lancaster; grandchildren Daniel (Maddie) Meier, Katie Meier, Jordon (Sarah) Carrell, and Andrew, Ashly and Anissa Wilkison; sister Carolyn (Tom) Thomas; brother-in-law Jim (Patty) Jones; sister-in-law Barb Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son Dennis Dean, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Frances (Billingsley) Jones, brother-in-law Michael Jones, niece Stacie (Thomas) Wilson, nephew James P. Jones and great-nephew Grady Cozad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 11 at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Rev. John Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, Ohio.

Calling hours will be observed 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 10 and before the service at 10 a.m.

The family wants to thank the special care unit nurses at Hocking Valley Community Hospital and Shriver’s Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributing in her name to Friends of Logan County Library or Hocking Hills Inspire Shelter.
