Leonard E. Black, age 100, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away September 25, 2025, at home in Columbus, Ohio. Leonard was born September 26, 1924, in Columbus, Ohio to Charles E. Black and Ester M. Black.
Leonard was a WWII veteran assigned to Darnall General Hospital in Danville, Kentucky, and 237 General Hospital in DiJon, France. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.
Leonard was an accountant at Reynold’s Metals and Joseph E. Seagram Distillery. He had a KFC Franchise and was a purchasing director for a KFC warehouse. Leonard retired from Defense Logistics Agency DCSC in Columbus, Ohio. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of the VFW.
Leonard was preceded in death by loving wife, Ilse S. Black; father, Charles E. Black; mother, Ester M. Black; stepmother, Blanch E. Black; daughter, Wanda Daughtery; and siblings, Kenneth Black, Forest Black, Hazel Johnson, and Ruth Hobbs.
Leonard is survived by his sons, Russel Black and Steve Black; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The visitation will begin at 11:30AM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00 Noon. Darlene Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, Ohio.
