Mark Anthony Varner, age 65, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away May 22, 2025, at O’Bleness Hospital in Athens, Ohio.

Mark was born March 4, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio to Jacob L. and Kathryn Gates Varner. He loved hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, and drinking beer at the Icehouse.                        

Surviving are his significant other, Sherri Newlun; brother, Paul (JoAnn) Varner of The Plains; daughter, Kayla (Cameron) Ray of Buchtel; grandkids, Isabella, Leo, and Carter Ray; nieces, Loretta Varner and Tracy Varner; nephews, Tony Varner, J.R. Varner, Paul (Amy) Varner, and Tim (Judy) Varner; great-nephew, Jacob Varner; and great-niece, Christina Varner.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jacob Varner, Steve Varner.

Calling hours were observed 12noon-3pm on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio.
