Robert Bryan “Bob” Martin, 85, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at Country Lane Gardens.
Born December 11, 1939, in Elkins, West Virginia, Bob was the eighth of ten children of Steven Alexander and Ruth Riffle Martin. A proud West Virginian at heart, he lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and faith.
Throughout his life, Bob held many jobs, including tire changer, sanitation worker, factory worker, and eventually truck driver — a career he retired from after 26 years. During those years, he was a member of several unions, including I.B.E.W. Local 2020 in Columbus, the United Steelworkers, and the Teamsters.
Bob was baptized at the 12th Street Church of Christ in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1961. That same year, he married Bonnie Lee Cook, the mother of his five beloved children:
Bonnie (Robert) Speciale of Redway, CA;
Paul (Chrystal) Martin of Pleasantville, OH;
Jodie Kilkenny of Stuart, FL;
Wendy (Randy) Holbrook of Lancaster, OH;
Tracey (Scott) Williams of Ironton, OH.
All survive him and carry on his legacy with love.
He is also survived by his brothers, Richard L. Martin, Stephen A. Martin, and James H. Martin; his sisters, R. June Sears and Teri L. Chenoweth; and his dear friend, Anna Marie Daubenmire.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lillian “Darlene” Johnston Martin; his parents; sisters, Betty Madge Jarmow and Yvonne Maurine Martin; brothers, Donald D. Martin and Charles A. Martin; and his grandson, Jonathan Speciale.
He enjoyed music, sports, and — above all — spending time with his family.
Philippians 1:23 — “For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.”
Per his wishes, Bob will be cremated, and no formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Arrangements are being handled by Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.
