Robert G. McDonald , age  84, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away July 14, 2026 at his residence.

Robert was born July 28, 1941, in Nelsonville, Ohio to Austin McDonald and Virginia “Jean” Cunningham McDonald. He worked in the oil fields on Oil Rigs; was a truck Driver; and loved his grandkids.                        

Surviving are his sons, Greg (Jenny) McDonald of Stewart, Todd (Steve) McDonald of Washington D.C, and Robert (Amber) McDonald Jr. of Lancaster.; daughter, Rebecca (Charles) Clark of Logan; grandchildren, Amanda McDonald, Ashley Miller, and Stephanie Warren; great-grandchildren, Corey McKnight, Leanne McKnight, Adam McKnight, Emma Miller, and Alan Miller; siblings, Calvin McDonald, Jim McDonald. Mary Pidcock, Judy Patton, and Anita Jo Warren; and his partner, Nancy Heller.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; 3 infant siblings; brothers, Bill McDonald and John McDonald; sister, Nora Simms; and previous wives, Shirley and Frances.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Adam McKnight officiating. Burial was in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan, Ohio.

Calling hours were 11am -1pm Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made, in Robert’s name, to Shriver’s Hospice.
