Wade Duane Gill, age 67, of Murray City, Ohio, passed away September 24, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.
Duane was born February 4, 1958, in Nelsonville, Ohio, to Wade Eugene Gill and Ruby B. Warix Gill. He worked for 30 years for Economy Supply in Athens; retired from the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, as a dispatcher and administrative assistant; was a former Mayor of Murray City; and loved to hunt, fish, play poker, casinos, trucks, and spend time with his family and friends. He was a character.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Valerie Gill; grandchildren, Corey Michael Gill of Nelsonville, Nicole Renee (Michael) Batista of Modesto, California, Addison Grace, and Rylee Rose; son-in-law, Wib Wallace of Nelsonville; sister, Peggy (Mike) Marcum of Glenford; sister-in-law, Cheryl Ault of Mississippi; and lifelong friends, Angie Kinnison of Nelsonville, and her children, and Roger & Charmia Berwanger of Murray City.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; daughter, Sandy Wallace; and lifelong friend, Mark Kinnison.
Funeral services were held at 1 P.M., Tuesday September 30, 2025, at the Brown Funeral Home, Murray City, Ohio with Chaplain Steve Hubbard officiating. Burial was in Conner Cemetery, Buchtel, Ohio.
Calling hours were observed on Monday 2-4 & 6-8 pm, and Tuesday 10 am – 1 pm at the funeral home.
A potluck followed the funeral services on Tuesday at the Murray City Municipal Building. Food could be dropped off prior to funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the funeral home to help with Duane’s funeral expenses.
