Don “Neighbob” Easterling

Don “Neighbob” Easterling, age 88, of Murray City, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at his home in Murray City, Ohio.

Don was born December 20, 1937, in Colgate, Ohio, to Delphin Easterling and Hazel Cavey-Easterling, and was raised by his grandparents. Don started on the railroad in 1957 for Pennsylvania Railroad in train service. Then on February 1, 1968, he was hired by Penn Central Railroad as a Conductor. Finally, he retired after 45 years of service from Conrail.

Don was a member of the Nelsonville VFW, Nelsonville Elks, Murray City Eagles, Masonic Lodge of Glouster, and the Murray City High School Alumni. He loved his westerns, old cars, building homes with his son Bryan, and spending time at his cottage at Burr Oak Lake.

Surviving are his son, Bryan (Iris) Easterling; grandchildren, Clayton Easterling, Corey (Jenny) Easterling, Erin Easterling, and Cody (Kayla) Easterling; 9 great-grandchildren, Draven, Kylie, Maya, Leon, River, Conner, Carson, Cora, and Coen; sister in laws, Nola Easterling, Dianna Buchman, Sue Buchman.

Proceeded in death by his loving wife, Carol Buchman-Easterling; son, Michael Easterling; siblings, Howard Easterling, Glen Easterling; sibling in laws, Robert Buchman, Larry Buchman, Deanna Dotson, Jeanie Bruce.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Brown Funeral Home of Murray City, Ohio, with Pastor Al Lee officiating. Burial followed at Hollister Cemetery in Hollister, Ohio.

Masonic services were held at 7:30 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the funeral home.

Calling hours were observed from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 20, 2026, and from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, prior to the service at the funeral home.
