With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Francis Eugene Farrar. He was born in 1936 in Vinton County, Ohio. Francis was 90 years old and lived in Logan, Ohio. He passed away at HVCH on May 24, 2026. He was a 1953 Union Furnace High School graduate. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Francis was the foundation of his family. He was married to his wife Margaret “Midge” Farrar for 67 years.
He was a proud member of the Ohio Operating Engineers for over 70 years and was a respected superintendent who dedicated many years to overseeing dirt work projects throughout the state. Known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and knowledge of the trade, he took great pride in helping build and shape communities across Ohio. One of the projects he took the most pride in was the construction of the route 33 Logan Bypass. One of his favorite hobbies was finding hidden treasures at auctions. Francis was known for his love of practical jokes, which he passed on to many of his family members.
Francis is survived by his wife Margaret “Midge” Farrar (McClelland), brother Ralph L. Farrar (Marilyn), sons Charles E. Farrar (Lori), Scott A. Farrar (Trisha), of Logan, daughters Vicki L. Farrar of Lancaster, and Michele R. Maniskas (Nick III) of Logan. Grandchildren David Emerson III (Jennifer) of Lancaster, Ohio, Derrick Hartberger (Emily) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Kalie Hartberger of Washington Court House, Ohio. Morgan Roberson (Brandon) of Onsted, Michigan, Taylor Ogarek (Austin), Madison Snider (Michael), Nick Maniskas IV (Laurel), and Abigail Maniskas all of Logan, Ohio. He also has 12 great grandchildren which he adored. Also, many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Francis was preceded in death by his father Herbert R. Farrar(64), mother Martina B. Farrar (McAfee)(83), Sisters Sandra Byrd (Larry)(79), Mary Farrar (13), and one infant sister.
He leaves behind many loving memories that will never be forgotten.
A private family service will be held by the family at a later date.
