Renata Rosalinda Wharton, age 88, of Rockbridge, Ohio, passed away May 28, 2026, at Country Lane Gardens, Thornville, Ohio.
Renata was born March 26, 1938, in Bamburg, Germany to Friederick Meisel and Elizabetha Meisel. Renata endured many of the hardships of war before courageously coming to America to build a new life for her family. She was a proud mother of four sons, and was known to be feisty, outspoken, and was never afraid to speak her mind. She had many strong opinions, strong will, and an even stronger love of her family. Renata loved doing her yard work, going to yard sales, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Renata was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lloyd Wharton; parents; son, Roger Wharton; siblings, Rudolf Meisel, Adam Meisel, Gertrude “Trudy” Correiro, Margaret Noss, Adel McIntire, and Hannah Diachynski.
Surviving are her children, John (Karen) Wharton, Terry (Keely) Wharton, and Wayne “Chip” Wharton; daughter-in-law, Mary Wharton; grandchildren, Shonda (Coty) Walker, Beth Fuller, Joshua Wharton, Dustin (Lindsay) Wharton, Chelsie Anna (Eddie) Wharton, Brandon (Jasmine) Wharton, Cory (Hollie) Wharton, Lauren Wharton, Colton (Alexandra) Wharton, Derek Wharton, Jordan (Lyndsie) Wharton, and Josie Wharton; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Elfrieda Davis and Erika Kelly; and close friend from her church that would visit, Jack McGrady.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday June 1, 2026, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home of Logan, Ohio, with Pastor Diora Edgel officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Rockbridge, Ohio.
Calling hours will be observed from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday June 1, 2026, at the funeral home prior to the service.
