John E. Gwinn, age 62, of Rockbridge, Ohio, passed away on July 1, 2026, at OSU East Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
John was born on January 28, 1964, in Huntington, West Virginia, to John E. Gwinn Sr. and Martha E. (Simmons) Gwinn. He was a truck driver for 44 years, hauling various types of loads. He served as a trustee for Good Hope Township for three and a half years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council. He loved attending his children’s events, and his family was the most important thing in his life.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Sarah; his son, Jacob E. (Desi) Gwinn of Laurelville; his daughter, Megan E. Gwinn (Eli Allen) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; his son, Isaac S. Gwinn (Delaney Kelch) of Columbus; his grandchildren, Jetson S. Gwinn, Jack E. Gwinn, and Jonathan D. (J.D.) Gwinn, all of Laurelville; his brother, David (Amy) Gwinn of Orange, Virginia; his sister, Pamela Landers of North Carolina; and his brother, Steven Gwinn of Michigan. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his beloved dog, Shaggy.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Gwinn; his uncle, Jack Simmons; and his niece, Sarah Starner.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Logan, Ohio, with Pastor William A. Hartfelder Jr. officiating.
Calling hours will be observed from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio, and from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the church.
