Phyllis Ann Maurer, age 88, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away August 29, 2026 at The Lindley Inn, The Plains, Ohio.

Phyllis was born January 15, 1938 in Athens, Ohio to Roy Hall and Ann McKibben Hall . She taught 5th grade for many years, and taught Junior High School for the Nelsonville York School District; loved teaching; did volunteer tutoring; taught night school for GED; did a lot for the community; helped with The Parade of the Hills; member of The Elks and VFW in Nelsonville                        

Surviving are sons Eric R. (Tessa) Maurer of Fort Worth Texas , Adam C. Maurer of Monroe; daughter Beth A. Saliba of Monroe; grandchildren Bradley Maurer of Fort Worth Texas, Kyle Maurer of Fort Worth Texas, Alexis Saliba of Liberty Township, Andrew Saliba of Liberty Township; great-grandson Matthew Maurer; sister Sandy Williams of Cincinnati; several nieces and nephews including Amanda Bellew of Pickerington and Keri Higgins of Nelsonville.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 53 years Robert Maurer; brother Jim Hall; in-laws Gladys & John Maurer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Wednesday September 2, 2026, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Mike Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.

Calling hours will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Elks service will be at 7:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home

in lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Phyllis’s memory to the Nelsonville Food Cupboard or the Nelsonville Library.
