William T. “Beaver” Davis, 78 of Nelsonville died peacefully in sleep at home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born to Oliver Willian Davis and Mary Allen Davison on January 4, 1947, in Athens, Ohio. Graduated from Nelsonville High School in 1965; proudly served in The US Air Force during Vietnam, from 1966-1970; life member of VFW Post 3467, Nelsonville Eagles #391, and Amvets Post #53; longtime member of the Nelsonville Parade of the Hills, with many years as the MC for the parade; member of the band Bill McKnight and the Knight Hawks for years; was a truck driver for Lowery Trucking, Shelly Company, and Houck Trucking owned by Mike & Mary Houck.

Beaver was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend; he touched too many lives to count; and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Davis; son, William T. Davis II; daughter, Jill Bishop (Joe) of Nelsonville; sister, Barb Whitaker (Joel); sister-in-law, Joan Johnson and Mika; uncle, Tom Davis; step-children, Teresa Whitmore of Buchtel, Sarah Wise (Brian) of Friendly, WV, and Jeremy Whitmore (Beth) of Stockport; many grandchildren, William T. Davis, Mike Martin, Ethan Kline, Ella Kline, Jason Whitmore (Deidre), Sam Whitmore, Gracy Price (Dillon), Wraith Whitmore (Brianna), Thatcher Whitmore, Allison Meyer, Zachariah Meyer, and Zebadiah Meyer; great-grandchildren, Joseph Whitmore, Jayden Whitmore, Marcella Price, Samuel Price, Alex Phillips, and Braxton Yuska; special friends, Vicki Goss, Terri Lowery, Joe Romine, Bill Kline, Jessica Hollenbaugh, Lynne Wolfe Sharlen Higby, and Marcie Wagner; and “his cat” the cat.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home, Nelsonville, Ohio with Father Robert Hill officiating. Burial will be in West Union St. Cemetery, Athens, Ohio where Military Graveside services will be conducted by The Combined Color Guard.

Visitation will be observed from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family wants to give a special thanks to Louise V. Johnson V.A. Medical Center Clarksburg, WV, especially his primary care team Amber Knowlton for helping to get him home. His dying wish was to be back home before passing. Also want to thank the Nurses and Doctors at OSU.
