Gala Lee Bender, age 67, of Rockbridge, Ohio, passed away July 4, 2026, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.

Gala was born April 3, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio to Willard Detty and Thelma Miller Detty. She was a graduate of Logan High School; loved the Lord, singing, attending church, diamond-painting, taking care of people; ran a half-way house.                        

Surviving is her son Jason (Melissa) Cottrill; sisters Karen Hartley, Lynn Smith; boyfriend Anthony Mundy; stepchildren Heath Mundy, Colby Mundy, Chantelle Mundy; grandchildren Meadow Cottrill, Keston Cottrill (Elizabeth Long), Cole Cottrill (Velma Whipps) great-grandchildren Caroline Cottrill, Arden Cottrill, Byron Cottrill; best friend Tammy Smith; nieces, nephews & other relatives.

Gala was preceded in death by her parents; brother Cameron Detty, niece Korrina Berry; brother-in-law James “Butch” Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1P.M., Friday July 10, 2026, at the Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Pastor Phil Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Chapel Cemetery, Rockbridge, Ohio.

Calling hours will be 11am-1pm Friday at the funeral home.
