CPL Lawrence Smith, of Haydenville, Ohio, passed away August 6, 1950, at Naktong, Republic of Korea.

CPL Smith was born May 30, 1930, in Haydenville, Ohio to Okey and Verna Smith. He was a graduate of Logan High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was listed as MIA on August 6, 1950. With new DNA testing, in 2025 the US Army was able to identify CPL Lawrence Smith so his family could bring him home.

Surviving are his brother, Roger Smith and several nieces and nephews.

CPL Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Okey and Verna Smith and siblings, Mary, Marcella, Wilma, Elma, Dow, Lewis, and Barb.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Thursday May 28, 2026, at the Village Church, Buchtel, Ohio with Pastor Yahreen Collins officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.

Calling hours will be observed from 11 A.M. to 1P.M. on May 28, 2026, at the church.
