Frances M. Long, 88, of Glouster, Ohio passed away June 9, 2026, at her home with her family at her side.
Frances was born January 15, 1938, in Athens County, Ohio to Frank Chalkey and Stella Pauline Beard “Bethel”. She was raised with Marie, Frank, Stella, and Peggy. She married Arthur William Long and had three children, Lela Long, Arthena Long, Arthur-Artie (Rita) Long all of Glouster.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and dancing.
Frances worked at the VFW in The Plains, Ohio, was in the Lady’s Color Guard; worked at the Trimble School, where she worked as a cook, bus driver, and custodial worker until she retired in 2004.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Long; daughter Lela Long; sister Maria all of Glouster; brother and his wife Frank (Mona) Chalkey from Texas; nephew Lawrence Chalkey of Logan; and a great-grandson J.B. Bush of New Marshfield.
A special thanks goes out to Dr Katherine Kiger, who always was there when she was needed, and all of her Ohio Health Hospice Team.
Her wish was for no viewing. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home in Murray City, Ohio.
