Larry Allen Powers

Larry Allen Powers, 89, of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at The Carlin House, surrounded by family.

Larry was born on March 16, 1937, in Muncie, Indiana, to Frances Clark Powers. He graduated from Logan High School and lived a life marked by hard work, service, friendship, and an appreciation for the simple things in life.

Larry loved the great outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He looked forward to weekly breakfasts with friends and monthly gatherings with classmates, maintaining friendships that spanned decades.

At the age of 16, Larry began working for Kroger in the produce department. Through years of dedication and hard work, he later became a semi-truck driver and spent nearly 39 years with the company before retiring. His years working with produce gave him a talent for selecting the best fruits and vegetables, and family members especially appreciated the sweet watermelons he proudly shared each summer.

Larry proudly served in the Ohio National Guard for 30 years and was a longtime member of Kline Memorial Global Methodist Church.

He enjoyed woodworking and was always willing to lend a hand on family projects. Whether traveling across the country for weddings, military graduations, award ceremonies, or other important milestones, Larry made it a priority to be present for the people he loved.

Larry is survived by his sons, Michael (Beth) Powers and James (Wendy) Powers, both of Logan; daughters, Christine (Steve) West of Logan and Carol Powers (Brenda Hinerman) of South Carolina; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marcelyn Dixon of Logan; and sister, Shirley Myers of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Dixon Powers; his mother, Frances Clark Powers; brothers-in-law, Bill Dixon, Ted Dixon, Bob Dixon, and Dee Dixon; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Dixon and Rose Martin.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026, at Heinlein-Brown Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio, with Pastor Mike Adkins officiating. Burial followed at Conner Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio. Calling hours were observed from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Donations can be made to Heartland Hospice in lieu of flowers.
