Robert “Bobby” Eugene Layton passed away in Jacksonville, Ohio on June 6, 2026, after an extended illness.

Robert was born on March 22, 1977, in Columbus, Ohio to Lenard J. Layton “L J” and Mary Cecilia Layton (Graham). At age 8, Robert moved to Athens County, Ohio where he attended and graduated from Beacon School. Robert transitioned around 1999 to ATCO where he worked in the pen and mailing department, where he enjoyed many of the activities provided there.  Then, more recently, he attended the Sech -Kar’s Elm Rock Group Adult Activity Center with his friends and Sech-Kar Family.

Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, Lenard J. Layton (passed in 1993) and Mary Cecilia Layton (Graham); and other known relatives, uncle, John “Johnny” (Kathy) Graham originally from Columbus, Ohio.

Robert leaves behind many friends, teachers, and beloved staff members from the Athens Community, including those from The Sech-Kar Company who provided him with care and support for many years.

Robert was social and adventurous; he always had a smile on his face and was up for trying new things.  You could always find “Bobby” in the middle of the fun laughing and dancing and enjoying his Pepsi.  He made a positive impression wherever he went and will be missed by many in the Athens community who knew and loved him and his zest for life. He was also the self-proclaimed “Vice Mayor” of Jacksonville, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Warren-Brown Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Calling hours will be observed from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
